Winter Wonderland Wedding Dresses

January 10, 2011 Kleinfeld Unveiled

Winter weddings are some of the most picturesque celebrations…the smell of pine and peppermint and wood burning in a fireplace, the vibrant red or icy blue color schemes, the sounds of smooth jazz music or classical string quartet filling the room, all while a light snowfall creates a soft white blanket on the ground and you can’t help but feel like magic is in the air!

Here are my top picks for some magical Winter Wonderland Wedding themes:

Holiday Ballroom Wedding

Pnina Tornai

A ballroom wedding during the holidays really requires a “WOW” factor dress—a ball gown that’s really proportionate to the space and an absolute show stopper!  This Pnina Tornai was actually her finale gown at her recent runway show this bridal fashion week.  The wide skirt with boisterous blossoming roses will keep eyes on you at all times, no matter how grand the ballroom. My favorite part: the ribbon-wrapped corset that starts at the waist and crisscrosses up to the top of the bodice, drapes around in an asymmetric neckline and finishes off with a bow.  The result is a bride that looks like the most magnificent present anyone could ever wish for!

New Year’s Party Wedding

Ian Stuart

The New Year’s wedding couple definitely likes to have fun and their reception is designed to be the best party you’ll attend all year!  So, this bride is not only looking for a “WOW” wedding dress, but the best party dress she’ll ever own, enter: Ian Stuart.  This cocktail dress by Ian Stuart is the perfect length for all-night-dancing and allows for some killer shoes.  Of course, no New Year’s Eve dress is complete without sequins!  The sequined lace, combined with tulle and floral embellishments, makes this the definition of a New Year’s Eve Wedding Dress!

Winter Destination Wedding: Ski Cabin

Alita GrahamAlita Graham

Destination weddings do not necessarily mean tropical climates or beaches—many of our brides do cold-weather weddings, like a romantic ski lodge.  This Alita Graham beaded sheath gown is full-length sparkle!  Imagine light bouncing back and forth from the snow onto the crystal beading on the dress—what an ethereal effect!  To really make this gown fit into a romantic winter setting, the perfect accessory is an ivory fur bolero and this one from Cassin is a beautiful choice—the shape perfectly contours to your body and can be left open so as not to cover your gorgeous gown.

Snow Covered Country Wedding

Claire PettiboneClaire Pettibone

The wonderful part about a country winter wedding is the rustic nature of the beautifully brittle branches and wooden logs, the vast amount of visible sky, and the ability to look out and see miles and miles of white covered ground.  This Claire Pettibone gown completely embodies the ambiance of the Snow Covered Country Wedding.  The embroidery mimics the pattern of branches and leaves, the illusion neckline and deep low illusion back have the transparency of a soft cloud filled sky, and to top it all off is all over beading to add the sparkle of fresh snowflakes falling on an already white covered ground.

Those are my tips for all of the brides shopping now for next year’s Winter Wedding Season!  As for our brides who were recently married over the holidays or have a wedding coming up this winter, tell us all the details:

What is the theme?

Where are you having it?

And most importantly: What are you wearing?
